Subscription Box Deals: PopSugar, New Beauty TestTube

Yay! I love holidays because it means LOTS of subscription box deals and goodies to go around!

PopSugar MustHave is offering $10 off a subscription, which would make it $29.95! I learned with PSMH codes that if you’re a current subscriber, make sure to CANCEL your current subscription before buying a new one with the code. I read online where a girl was a current subscriber, used a code and ended up with two boxes. Their customer service said too bad, so sad. What does a girl need two boxes for? Anyway… the code is BOX10 and it’s valid through 2/25. I just got my February box in the mail and will be posting the review soon!

New Beauty TestTube is offering 30% off for new subscriptions! There’s no promo code to enter, just click this direct link and it will offer you the price of $20.95. I’ve never received a TestTube but I may give it a shot with this awesome promo code.

-Sadly, there’s no Glossybox discount code, but if you just have to have the box anyway, use the code HEARTS to get a free lipstick. I haven’t been overly enthused by the spoilers yet this month, but I’ve loved the past two GB’s that I’ve received. (offer expires 2/16)

Birchbox teamed up with US Weekly this month and I’m hoping my box rocks. If you sign up by using the code USWEEKLY100, you get 100 bonus points to use in their shop, which is essentially $10. You’ll also receive 12 issues of US Weekly which is a $10 value also.

This is non-subscription box deal related, but Bath and Body Works has a sale on their mason jar candles for $7 (regularly $12.50) Their spring candles smell divine and they burn so well! My favorites are the Raspberry Peach Macaroon and the Watermelon Lemonade. They also have a few codes, so pick whichever one makes your deal the best.

-CUPID25 ($1 shipping for purchases over $25)
-RMN20FEB (20% off)
-S141770 (Save $10 off a $30 purchase)
-F131769 (Save 20% off a $25 purchase) expires 2/23
-ALOHA20 (Save 20% off any online purchase) expires 5/4

-Another non-subscription box deal, but way too good of a deal to pass up. Get a free Smashbox eyeliner/mascara duo ($21 value) with any $10 purchase to You have to pay shipping, but if you have a Shoprunner account, you’ll get free shipping. No code required, but click this link to get the deal. All you have to do is add $10 worth of merchandise to your cart and the mascara will be added to your cart automatically. (I think my favorite thing that’s on sale on their website right now is loose pigments and nail polish by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.)

Whew! Now I feel like I need to go on a shopping spree with all these awesome deals circulating. Which one will you be picking up today?

Glossybox January 2014 Review

I’m so happy, guys! I wasn’t expecting Glossybox for another week or so since they announced their delay, but it arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I signed up for Glossybox with the LivingSocial deal, but I would have paid full price for this box. The Beautyblender + cleanser is worth $20, so in essence – you’re getting the Beautyblender with 4 other products for free.  Here’s the first look at my box:

And the pamphlet that explains all the products:

At first glance, the products are smaller sized than last month’s box, but I think that this was still a good box. There’s a variety of makeup, skincare, bath and beauty products, which is why I enjoy Glossybox so much.

My favorite product is probably everyone’s favorite. The Beautyblender. I’ve been dying to get one since every Youtube blogger refers to it as a holy grail product. I did try the Ulta brand one and thought it was about the same as a makeup sponge, but I’m told that the Ulta one pails in comparison to this one. I can’t wait to give it a try. I also love that they gave us the “pure” white one. Who really wants any extra dyes on their sponge?

My second favorite product is the Bellapierre Mineral blush. The color is really light and sheer that it will make an awesome addition to my collection. The size is pretty decent too. Since I only use a little bit at a time, this will last me awhile.

I take bubble baths every night, so any bubble bath or body wash that promises “foaming” action gets me really excited. I already used all of my body wash from last month’s box, so this will be used in a week. My only complaint is that I wish the bottle was bigger. Balance Me Super Toning Body wash:

I’ve gotten pretty into skincare lately, so Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal Rich Cream is pretty awesome for me too. This is paraben-free and is supposed to lock in moisture for 48-hours. Sign me up!

Every beauty box has some kind of “meh” or “not for me” product in it, and the Sea Salt Texturising spray is that for me. It’s supposed to give you a beachy/tousled hair look, but my hair is pretty flat.

Overall, I’m really happy with January’s box. There’s 4 products that I really love and am excited to try and only 1 that’s going into the trade pile. I believe I paid about $13 for this box with the LivingSocial deal and promo code, so I definitely got my money’s worth. I have one more month with my voucher, then I have to decide if I want to continue with it and pay full price.

Did you get January’s Glossybox? What did you think of it? Also, have you ever tried a Beautyblender? Is it as amazing as people say it is?

Ipsy – January 2014 Review

Ipsy is the only subscription box that I haven’t cancelled since discovering beauty boxes last year. The value is always at least $10 even if I don’t like every product. This month was one of the weaker months for me, but I still feel like I got my money’s worth. My only complaint is that they don’t seem to take your beauty survey into account when picking your bag.

Here’s the first glance at my bag:

I’ll go in order with the excitement level I have for the products. First up, is the Nourish Organics face lotion. I received another Nourish product a few months ago and it was one of my favorite products. I love that it’s organic and I can always use hydration products. This is a smaller size sample but it will still last me awhile.

The Elizabeth Mott mascara that I received in my Ipsy bag a few months ago was probably my favorite Ipsy product EVER. I loved it so much that I don’t want to use it for fear of running out. I will be purchasing a full-size product soon so I can start using it again. I was pretty happy when I checked my Glam room to find out I’d be receiving another one of her products. I don’t love creamy eye shadows as much as I like the powder version, but I’m always happy to try out new products.

I was initially bummed when I found out I’d be receiving the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair mask. I don’t have hair products selected on my profile, so I’m still at a loss as to why I received it. However, after using it once already I love how soft it made my hair. My hair is severely damaged from years of at-home coloring. I don’t know whether one use of this has made any difference, but I’m going to keep using it to find out.

Next up, Mica Beauty tinted lip gloss. The color is okay but similar to a few others that I already own. I’m one of those girls that hate potted lip glosses, so I’m going to have to buy a brush to go with this.

I hate Proactiv. After being young and getting sucked into their reoccuring payment plans, I vowed to never buy another product from them. I really didn’t want these pads at all and it was the one item that I groaned about. However, since I’ll try them or trade them away.

The bag itself was really cute, but made out of vinyl. It smells like a pool toy. I’m of the minority that I really don’t care about the makeup bags anyway, since I have more of them than I know what to do with. I’ll set it aside with my other makeup bags that I have no use for.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with my January glam bag. A few products I was meh on, but I love that Ipsy has introduced me to Elizabeth Mott and Nourish Organics–both brands that have awesome products that I’d never heard of before. If you aren’t an Ipsy member, I highly recommend checking them out here. Even if they don’t always get it right, it’s worth the $10.

I wasn’t overly in love with January’s box from the spoilers that I saw, but $12 for two boxes is too good to pass up. Let me know if you decide to sign up!

Subscription box deal – Birchbox

A few weeks ago, I found out that February’s Birchbox was going to be a collaboration with US Weekly. I am a former Birchbox subscriber, but wasn’t always happy with my boxes. (This is actually what made me switch over to Ipsy) I decided to request an invite for February’s box and give them another try.

I’ve been waiting for their boxes to switch over to February, but received an email today saying there were still January boxes left. This is what it said:

This is a great deal. In essence, your January or February’s US Weekly box would be free with the points. If you are interested in signing up, click here. Make sure to use the code USWEEKLY100 to get the bonus points.

edit: The email didn’t include any terms, but their website states that this code is only valid for new subscribers. Guess I won’t be getting the points!

Glossybox – January 2014 Update

Hey guys! I know my Glossybox posts are the most popular, so a lot of you out have mad amounts of love for it like I do.

I read about some people getting an email warning of a delay, however I didn’t get the email at all. I thought maybe it was only going to be some of the boxes. I sent them a private message on Facebook to confirm whether all boxes are delayed or if only a few people were impacted. They confirmed to me that all boxes will be delayed until 1/21.

Here’s the post, in case you missed it:

These kinds of things happen so I’m not mad at Glossybox at all. Just reeeeally bummed that I won’t have my box for awhile.

Wantable Makeup Box – January 2014 Review

Ever since discovering Birchbox a few years ago, it’s been my goal to try all of the beauty boxes. I started with the cheap ones (Ipsy, Birchbox) now I’m making my way up to the more costly ones (Glossybox, Wantable) Wantable is one of the most expensive ones, at $36 a month BUT they promise 4-5 full-sized products.

I’m still trying to come down from my December ’13 Glossybox high, so Wantable had big shoes to fill. The retail value of my box was $75.50. So for $36, I received double the retail value. However, I’m always concerned with getting my money’s worth more than what it would cost in the store.  (If I wouldn’t buy it in the store, then why does it matter what the retail value of it is?)

One thing that I’ve noticed about Wantable is that they try to keep your loves, likes and dislikes in mind when picking your products. My survey shows that I love brows, eyeliner, blush, highlighter, lip color and bronzer and that I like eye shadows and nail polish. I don’t really have any beauty hates other than fake eyelashes. And that’s mainly due to my own incompetence. I wore them for my wedding and loved the way they looked on me, but I just can’t apply them myself even after watching YouTube videos labelled “applying lashes for dummies”

So without further ado, let’s see what my $36 got me:

At first look, I was enamored with all the pretty packaging and noticed that I wasn’t familiar with any of the brands in the box. This is one of the best things about subscription boxes!

I’ll start with my two favorite items. The Sorme shimmer glow brush got me all kinds of excited. I used to have a similar product from the Victoria’s Secret beauty line that I wore every day and loved. The packaging of this product is also great. At first, I thought mine was broken but I realized the silver piece moves up to protect the brush. Genius! (Sorme Shimmer Glow Wand in Rosy – retail value $24)

The only sad thing that I can say about this is there’s not a ton of pigment and it really is just shimmer. I originally thought it would be more of a blush/shimmer combo, but I was wrong.

1-photo 2

You can see from the swatch it’s just a nice sheer shimmer. This will be great to add a nice healthy glow to my obviously pale skin.

The next product was the Bella il Fiore Rosie Lip gloss. I’ve received a few glosses lately, but I never get sick of them. Mine always seem to end up in the wash or I lose them, so enough is never really enough when it comes to lip gloss. (Bella il Fiore Shine On lip gloss in Rosie – retail value $11)

After swatching this on my arm, I noticed it was a little sticky but a great color. I then had to rub the swatch on my lips and I swear it tastes like Twizzlers. If anyone else has used this product, please confirm this to me because I think I might be going crazy.

1-photo 3

I’ve been begging Ipsy for some beauty tools, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a brush in here. After researching the brand, I found that Michael Marcus doesn’t have the best reviews for its line of cosmetics. I haven’t used my brush yet, but I’ll let you know how it pans out.

This is a primer brush that you can use for concealer or primer:

The brush seems really sturdy, so I hope that his brush line is better than his cosmetics line. Dear every beauty box in America, please keep sending me tools! (Michael Marcus Prime Foundation brush- retail value $20)

Next up are the two polishes. Face Stockholm and The Color Club:

Le sigh. These are both really pretty colors, but I have a ton of blue polishes:

After taking this picture, I found another blue Old Navy polish, so that makes the count 5. I’m not a nail polish hoarder like some of you ladies out there, so I really only need 1 or 2 in each color!

Of the two colors, I think I like the Face Stockholm in Want-a-blue more since it has hints of purple in it. I can see a really cute mani/pedi coming out of this polish:

The Color Club polish in Personal Stylist is also very pretty but I may need to email Wantable directly and put in a request to send me different colors if they are going to send duplicate items. I’m less excited about the Color Club polish than the Face Stockholm one. (Color Club In True Fashion Polish Personal Stylist – retail value of $8)

I really loved the variety of my Wantable Accessories box, but I felt like the variety wasn’t there with this box. I am really loving two of the products and am open-minded about the brush, so I won’t be returning my January box. Side note, Wantable is the only beauty box that I know of that lets you return your box for credit if you are unhappy with it so I’m really loving this aspect of it! However, the box didn’t completely blow me away for the price point. I think this will be one that I cancel for now and re-visit in the future.

Have you ever tried any of the Wantable boxes? How did you like it?
